Enabling Access to MIAPPE-compliant ISA Tab archives through BrAPI
MIRA is an innovative service designed to streamline the deployment of a BrAPI server using ISA formatted datasets, such as an Annotated Research Context (ARC) RO-Crate, that comply with the MIAPPE standard. MIAPPE, an internationally recognized data standard, facilitates the description of plant phenotypic experiments and is represented within the ISA model using official serializations in ISA JSON and ISA Tab formats. The ARC specification further extends this with an ISA-XLSX serialization that can be converted into ISA JSON, ensuring compliance with established ISA standards and enabling the creation of machine-readable metadata files.
Key Features
Input Preparation: MIRA accepts ISA formatted datasets that adhere to the MIAPPE standard, automatically deploying a BrAPI server on the dataset. The use of RO-Crates allows for the contextual organization of data, facilitating its automatic processing by applications.
Automated ETL Pipeline: During MIRA's deployment, an Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipeline imports FDOs and iterates over the dataset to extract MIAPPE entities. The transformation process converts these entities into corresponding BrAPI entities for storage in an internal database.
Server Deployment: MIRA deploys a standardized API server, eliminating the need for repetitive dataset iterations for each request. The internal database is built according to the BrAPI data model, allowing for efficient object extraction and simplified database interactions through Object Relational Mapper (ORM) solutions.
MIRA represents a significant advancement in the integration of plant phenotypic data into accessible and usable formats, facilitating enhanced research capabilities within the biodiversity community.
